Diwali – From Darkness to Light

For many, Diwali represents the victory of good over evil. This festival of lights goes on for five days, and it is celebrated with enthusiasm and joy by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs all over the world. It is considered to be a festival of new beginnings as it coincides with the harvest season. This auspicious occasion celebrates the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Diwali in New York this year is all set to take a new look, as the World Trade Center Podium will be lit up with the Diwali Murals. Following is the list of festivities planned in the 3-day All American Diwali Celebration, which will be open to all –

DIGITAL MURAL ON THE WTC PODIUM, November 2nd, 3rd, & 4th 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM

  • All American Diwali Digital Mural on the WTC Podium in downtown Manhattan: From the night of 2nd to 4th November 2021, the epitome of the American ethos, WTC Podium, will be lit up with the colors of Diwali. The animated murals will be made on the theme of ‘Darkness to Light.’ The murals will normalize Indian imagery to the locals and tourists who flock to the multi-story WTC podium every day.

FIREWORKS OVER THE HUDSON RIVER, November 3rd 7:30 PM

  • All American Diwali Fireworks: The American tradition of watching the 4th of July fireworks over the Hudson River will see an Indian twist. On 3rd November 2021, from 7:30 pm, you can witness the sky lighting up with the Diwali fireworks. The best places to view the fireworks are Grundy Park in Jersey City and Rockefeller Park in lower Manhattan.
